How Speeding Up a Hotel Booking Flow Raised Conversion by 40%

Behind the zero-wait principle and the speed-first build on the Emsa Otel project.

In the hotel business people decide in seconds. Long load times, complicated booking steps and heavy interfaces send potential guests back to where they came from. For the booking system we built for Emsa Otel, the priority was a zero-wait principle.

How was the booking flow made faster?

We built the system from the ground up with React and modern web tooling. Steps that previously moved forward by reloading the page became a single, uninterrupted flow. Optimising the images without visible quality loss cut page weight by 70%.

What was the result?

The result: on phones, completing a booking went from three minutes to 45 seconds, and direct — commission-free — sales rose 40%.

Does site speed really affect bookings?

Yes. Studies put every additional second of load time at roughly a 7% drop in conversion.

What is a single-page application and what does it add to a hotel site?

It is an architecture where moving between pages does not reload the whole page. On a hotel site it makes each step instant, so the guest finishes the booking rather than losing patience.

What is a commission-free direct booking system?

Taking the booking through the hotel’s own site on a secure payment provider, without paying commission to an intermediary such as Booking or Agoda.
